First in Fox – The Department of Justice demanded that the California public schools confirm next week that do not allow transgender athletes to compete in girls sports, increasing a federal investigation into the state for compliance with Title IX.

The Deputy Attorney General Harmet Dhillon, who runs the DOJ Civil Rights Division, said in a letter obtained by Fox News Digital News that public school districts must “certify in writing” on June 9, which will not comply with the gender identity rules of the California Interscholic Federation.

“The fact of deprived students of athletic opportunities and benefits from their sex would constitute unconstitutional sexual discrimination under the egalitarian protection clause,” Dhillon warned a letter, obtained by Fox News Digital.

The California Interscholastic Federation governs public and private high school sports and has a gate that requires its members to recognize gender identity in sports.

All students should be able to participate in school sports “consistent with their gender identity, regardless of the gender that appear in a student’s records,” says the ordinance.

Dhillon, a former conservative lawyer in California, said that the certifications he seeks in the public school districts “ensure compliance” of Title IX and will help them “avoid legal responsibility”.

Its demand puts the public school districts against the California Interscholastic Federation, the entity that schools must fulfill to participate in state sports competitions.

When Trump took office, he ordered the federal agencies to enforce the IX title so that he excluded gender identity after the Biden administration tried to reinterpret the Statute.

Title IX, approved in 1972, is a leading civil rights law designed to prevent sexual discrimination in schools. Former President Barack Obama made the first, albeit inapplicable, inapplicable, to reinterpret title IX at the end of his term running schools that received federal funds to allow transgender students to use bathrooms and participate in sports that corresponded to their gender identities.

Trump annulled these efforts in his first term and, in coordination with the former Secretary of Education, Betsy Devos, underwent a long process of creating new rules within the Department of Education to demand that schools adhere to the long-term meaning of title IX.

Former President Joe Biden embraced gender identity and imagined title IX a pillar of his presidency through to reveal the new rules of Trump administration. Biden met, however, with numerous orders and could never remove his version of Title IX.

Now, Trump has tried to aggressively enforce the rules of his first term. He signed a series of executive orders focused on, as described by an order, the “biological reality of sex”, and his agencies have sent demand letters and have opened federal consultations to states resistant to the administration’s efforts.

In addition to focusing on California, the DOJ sued Maine for title IX, arguing that its state-of-the-art department complied with federal law, citing a transgender athlete who won a girls’ vault competition in February.

The governor of Maine Janet Mills (D) has diminished the matter, saying in local news at a time that there were “two” transgender athletes in his state.

In the meantime, the governor of California, Gavin Newsom (D), has shown an opening to Trump’s position that the transgender athletes competing in girls sports is unfair, for the bewilderment of some of the liberal Newsom base.

Newsom recently said that he supported a new pilot initiative of the California Interscholastic Federation to allow any athlete of court and field that had been qualified for a next state championship to compete if they had been displaced by a transgender athlete.
